Union Jack

I've pulled out my siren red blazer from the depths of my closet. I've never been one who is partial to the color red.. but with black and white, it kind of feels right (rhyme unintended). The red blazer makes the black & white Union Jack sweater seem all that more graphic, which I very much enjoy.

I just paired it with a few of my staples.. the black buckle boots, leather shorts, a black beanie, and a rhinestone necklace. Definitely a brighter outfit than usual, but it was a nice change of pace. The sweater was another good F21 find from a couple of months ago. Do you all ever have any luck there? Anyway.. I truly hope the weather begins to warm up soon so I can start bringing some new color back into my wardrobe.

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday (paradox not intended) hehe.

Union Jack Sweater: Forever 21
Blazer: Zara
Shorts: Gianni Bini
Boots: Nine West

    1. Thank you dear!

Congratulation! ox. I suppose that would depend on your budget/ and or personal style (: I personally search these three sites before anywhere else. Asos, Topshop, and Nastygal. Asos and Topshop have a wider variety of cocktail/ fancier dresses than nastygal, but a little heavier price point.. but nastygal has some great tropical color dresses, flowy dresses, beachy dresses.. really pretty colors. Here are the links:

      http://rstyle.me/n/b7hgrzrn (Nastygal Dresses)

      http://rstyle.me/n/tpfrzrn (Topshop Dresses)

If you order from Asos/ Topshop.. beware of sizing. I know you are pretty thin/tall so just caution you that because they are british stores.. there sizes are much smaller than american sizing! So just double check measurements.. because I've gotten into trouble with that a couple times haha! Have fun shopping and please let me know if you want other suggestions (:

  4. LOVE IT. A lot like that baseball jacket with the gold, this is a fresh take on something overplayed, although i guess in the union jack case, "iconic" may be a better word.

Just to mention it, one of my favorite painters is the great Gerhard Richter - he does lots of different kinds of paintings, famously (and expensively) his large abstracts, but a core idea in his art is to take an image, then using technique (for instance painting a photo then scraping and blurring the paint) or color to make it new, unexpected, seen in a fresh light. Obviously, that concept is at the core of fashion design, but in fine art there are few who do it as well as Richter. For instance, the castle Neuschwanstein is one of the most famous buildings in Germany and it's both an icon and a cliche, kind of like the Eiffel tower:

Now check out what Richter did with it:

It makes you reconsider everything you associate with this image you've seen 1000 times. I enjoy your blog because I often see you doing similar things through clothes.

    Keep up the good work!

  5. Your color combination is sooooo perfect!!!!
The red with black and white, and of course that over the top lovely blonde hair of yours..... and that wonderful smile!

    You're sooooooooo WOW!

and I've noticed you like to wear super high heeled boots......

I suppose that you must have had a lot of training en pointe to be able to navigate the way you do with those heels

  8. Hi, Olivia I just read about your blog in 17 Magazine, I read about how you like to add a little bit off rock n roll to every outfit! I think my fashion style is evolving! I don't add rock n roll to every outfit but I try to add it to some outfits, love this outfit! I love everything from the top the leggings everything, it is totally "rocker chic" . I am new to blogging and my blog isn't all about fashion it is about photography but I think you and all the fashionistas would relate to this post :) http://picturesandmeanings.blogspot.com/2012/12/we-all-been-there-at-least-once.html feel free to check out the blog!
